Data & Privacy Policy for Canada (PIPEDA)

Indio Technologies INC. (“Indio”) respects your privacy and recognizes the importance of your personal information. We are committed to protecting your information through our compliance with PIPEDA.

This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we may collect when you visit the Indio website or subscribe to receive the Indio services (collectively, our “Services”) and our practices for using, maintaining, protecting and disclosing that information.

What kinds of Information do we collect?

Indio Technologies (“Indio” or “The Platform” or “Indio Technologies Platform”) collects only data that is relevant to underwriting insurance policy application forms as requested by your broker. Examples of data that may be collected are data that relate specifically to your business exposures, such as location and the attributes of the property and environs, information about any type of equipment, transportation along with drivers, which may include their names and license information, revenue numbers and projections, and information about workers that could include their names and other personal identifying information.

Why do we collect your data?

We collect data about you at the specific request of your broker in order to provide you with products and services through the Indio Technologies Platform. For example, when your log in and fill out insurance application forms, we store that information so that your broker can access this information when they go get you insurance quotes.

How do we use the information we collect?

We use data about your site visit to deliver meaningful, contextual, and time-saving experiences that benefit both you and your broker. For example, when you enter in data in one form that can be used in other forms, we automatically populate this data into all forms for your convenience and ease. When we collect data about what kind of device you are using, which browser, what OS you are using, or which pages you visit on the platform; we use these data for analytics and to diagnose any Customer Service issues you may have.

How is this information shared?

Currently, this information is shared only between you and your broker on the Indio Technologies Platform. Your broker uses your data to obtain quotes for insurance policies, gather signatures, and organize your exposures with the added advantage of doing this in a secure online portal. Your Broker has chosen to use Indio to save time and cut down on possible errors.

Additionally, we do have third-party analytics tools that gather data about your site experience; we use information about your site experience to develop new products and features.

How do you protect and secure my data?

  • We use AWS to provide a secure and reliable cloud environment for our software.
  • We restrict network access is restricted on an as-needed basis.
  • All network communication in the Indio platform occurs over secure SSL/TLS.
  • We do not store your passwords in plain text.
  • Employees are required to change passwords every 90 days.
  • All data at rest is encrypted using industry best practices with AES-256.
  • We perform server-side logging of all interactions with our services for security and E&O purposes.
  • We log all activities and actions through our APi’s
When and how do you destroy data?

Media disposal is handled in accordance with NIST guidelines in special publication 800-88 at user request

International / US Data Consent

By working with the Indio Technologies Platform, your data is subject to US jurisdiction and all applicable laws. One specific law, the US Patriot ACT, gives the US government the ability to request metadata and personal data but only if there is reasonable suspicion that is based on specific facts. By consenting to use the Indio Platform, you understand that your personal data could be queried by the US Government if there is reasonable suspicion of any nature of violation(s).  

What if I don’t want to give consent?

You will not be able to use the Indio Technologies Platform to streamline your insurance experience. If you don’t feel comfortable having any of your data on the Platform just decline this consent form and let your broker know you would like your forms delivered to you another way.  If you would like any of the data your broker may have entered about you destroyed, feel free to contact us {link to support email}.

How can I access all of the data about me that you store?

You can gain access to your  information either by logging into the Platform or by letting us know you’d like access to your information via {customer support email}.  

What if I want to file a complaint?

If you would like to file a complaint please email {http://<a href=“mailto:PIPEDA@useindio.com”>}our Privacy Officer directly and include all relevant details. Our Privacy Officer will acknowledge receipt of your complaint and reply to your complaint within 30 days. You also have the right to complain directly to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada about any alleged breaches of the law.

What is the expected response time if I file a complaint?

If you submit a complaint to Indio Technologies our Privacy Officer  will respond back to you within 30 days.
